A number of airlines will start operating non-stop flights from Australia and New Zealand later this year.

The first to introduce new flights to Korea this year is Air New Zealand. It will operate from Auckland, three times a week starting on the 23rd of November 2019. In the following month, Jetstar will be the first low-cost carrier to launch a flight from Gold Coast to Incheon (Seoul) from the 8th of December 2019. Finally, earlier this month, Korean carrier Asiana Airlines, announced that it will offer scheduled chartered flights from Melbourne to Incheon (Seoul) on the 26th of December this year.

“Launching new flights open an opportunity for both destinations, particularly in boosting their economy through the tourism industry,” said Taihwan Kim, Director at Korea Tourism Organisation – Sydney. “However, Koreans are one of the region’s largest market for international visitors and expenditures. We hope to seek a balance in here. With even more flights and affordable options from Australia and New Zealand to Korea, we invite everyone to visit Korea and explore a rising tourist destination” he added. The Korea Tourism Organisation expects a positive trend following the introduction of these new flights.

Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO), in partners with Jetstar and Air New Zealand, will be hosting a ‘Korea Tourism Night’ for tour wholesalers, travel agents, and retailers on the 8th of October in Driftwood Social, Vibe Hotel – Gold Coast and 10th of October in Hilton Hotel – Auckland respectively. The event aims to increase awareness of Korea as an exciting tourist destination, with a history of more than 5,000 years which blends well with modern infrastructure and trendy culture. Last 18th of September, Korea Tourism successfully hosted a similar event in Melbourne which was attended by over 70 tourism professionals.

The Korea Tourism Organisation office in Sydney has been actively promoting Korea as a leisure tourism destination in Australia and New Zealand. It has been collaborating with major tour wholesalers, retailers, airlines on several projects and events to boost the awareness of Korea as a destination in the pacific region.
